10 Footsteps Forward
  1. Wake up, count the clouds, be startled by stars, rest..repeat.
  2. Tomorrow is a new day. Some days I repeat those words to myself all day. Some days today is the day I want to last forever.
  3. Be present. Present yourself the way you would like to be seen. Remember that you can choose to start again at any moment in time.
  4. Divorce, major illness, loss…these are things that happen to many people…things that happened to me, and maybe to you, my reader. Time, friends, family, hobbies, an active life, laughter, and love all heal.
  5. Trite but true, life goes on regardless of your circumstances. There are some moments though, when one feels frozen in a tumultuous timeline of regret, lost choices, and confusion about the next step. Step forward anyway.
  6. Think about who you can be, not who you are now. Who am I? At 45, I continue to wonder. Over time, who we are changes, evolves, gets better, gets worse, and continues down the rocky path we named life.
  7. The best way to move forward is to keep going, holding your friends, your family, and yourself close to your heart.
  8. When you see the joy in today and how to achieve a better tomorrow — then you travel on a positive path to self-reflection, freedom from internal pressures, and a life that is full of love, sunny days, splashes of rainbows, and unicorn sightings.
  9. Choose your days. Choose how you spend them, who you spend them with, and your feelings about them.
  10. Be genuinely yourself without explanation.
