Day 29: Allow Yourself to Veer off Path

What does this mean? For all of this time, I have suggested having a clear vision. I still think having a clear vision is essential to success. Yet, it is also important to accept when your path travels away from your original vision. Sometimes the universe has better plans for you — plans that you did not even realize would be so good for you.

Having a positive and adaptive mindset is essential. For example, if you have something extremely specific on your vision board — like a vacation in Costa Rica or home in a certain area — and your vision does not pan out exactly as written, that does not mean that your vision board did not work. As an example, say you had been planning a vacation right before Covid happened. That vacation was cancelled due to health risks. Then, after that, maybe you put on your vision board vacation to _________ place. A week or maybe even a month later, you receive a brochure or an email from a travel agent. There is a great deal for a vacation coming your way. This vacation has everything you want except the location is slightly different. My advice would be to accept the change. Allowing yourself to adapt could be the best thing you do. You could have the best vacation ever!

As a young girl, I had a vision of having three children, getting married, and living in a lakefront home. I have added things to that vision along the way. I would also love to have a meal service (cooking isn’t my best skill), complete creative freedom, an amazing playground for my children, and the funds to be able to send my children to college, take them on vacations, and pay for extra-curricular activities without worrying.

So far, I have accomplished a lot of these goals. I have two children, and the third child that I once envisioned is not going to happen. I can adapt to that because I have two wonderful children. I did get married. I am divorced now. It took at least two years to adapt to that idea, but now I have, and it is okay.

I bought a home for my children and myself, and I am very close to the water. For me, as a mom, I like that idea better now. It seems safer because my kids can’t just run out of the house and jump right in the lake.

As far as the amazing playground, meal service, and funds…those are things I am building as I go. I am saving up for the playground and hoping to earn more so I can have a meal service and the funds for all the things I want for my children.

The point here is that your vision board or journal is an essential part of your success. Write everything down (in picture form or words) and go for it! If you get close to what you want, but not exactly, don’t be disappointed. Accept that the universe had different plans for you and allow those plans to meet your desires and needs. You will be happy that you kept an open mind!
